NHS VETERANS MEMORIAL

Dear Cherished Friends

I have a vision of a creating a NHS Veterans Memorial. The Memorial would honor the service and memory of every NHS graduate who wore the uniform�.active duty, National Guard, Reserves. Today, Dr. Lynn Chesley, Principle, and Dr. Roger Brown, Assistant Superintendent, gave permission to create the memorial and �donated the land� behind the flag poles on the South side of the building. The ceremony honoring the Vets would be on Veteran Day with as many Vets in attendance as possible.

THE most important, but difficult part of this project will be the RESEARCH to cross index the NHS graduates with military service going back to WW I. Today, I went to the library, County Historical Society and County Clerk in hopes of discovering some sort of military information, but was not successful. This research will require going through the archives of the Transcript, going to the Genealogical Society, going to Class Web sites, asking churches, clubs for information of relatives who fit the criteria, plus anything else you can think of, etc. in an effort to create this information. Dr. Brown would like a copy of the finished product.

I was hoping you all might be able to work in concert on the Research Committee, each creating your own research committee and combine all the information into one excel spreadsheet. I am asking each of you consider donating your gifts and talents to this project of honoring the service and memories of our NHS veterans. If this doesn�t fit, there will be plenty of other committeesJ

There will be an organizational meeting this Sat at 11:30 at the Interurban. Please consider attending. Please call me prior to the meeting to discuss the above if you are interested. It will be great to see you all.
