A proud graduate of Tenafly High School, Griffin-Stewart showcased his athletic prowess early, playing a variety of positions including tight end, outside linebacker, defensive end, receiver, slot, and safety.

He went on to play college football for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from 2015 to 2018, and later, in 2019, for the Pitt Panthers. Notably, Nakia added the name Stewart to his last name in 2015 at the beginning of his college football career in honor of his step-father.

Despite being undrafted in 2020, Griffin-Stewart's professional career began when he was signed on by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
