About Hill Montague, IV, of Alexandria and Deltaville, Virginia, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 64. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa; their two children Rebecca Cronin (Nick) and Hill Montague, V (Hannah); three grandsons; mother, Duncan Montague Lamond; and sisters Laura Cross, Katharine Smeallie (Peter) Caroline Boone (Walter) and his many nieces and nephews and their children. Hill was preceded in death by his father, Hill Montague III.

Hill's life was marked by integrity, generosity, and selflessness. He loved his family and friends, more than anything else, and there was not a thing he would not do for them. Hill was born on July 4, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia. A lifelong learner, Hill excelled at Hunter's Woods Elementary School, Flint Hill School, Herndon High School, the University of Virginia, and George Washington University. He regularly took evening courses in computer science for his pleasure, at Northern Virginia Community College.

After college, Hill was employed as an Associate Member of the Electrical Engineering Staff at Sperry (later Unisys), where he was promoted to Senior Member. The remainder of his career was spent at the United States Library of Congress, where he served for 33 years, eventually as the Senior Electronics Engineer, until his retirement in June. He loved his years at the library, which he considered a most beautiful place to work. Hill was also employed for the last 15 years by the American Rock Mechanics Association, where he assisted in the planning and execution of their annual symposia.

Hill was a volunteer for his children's schools, including serving as President of the South Lakes High School PTA. He spent countless hours volunteering for Indian Guides and the Boy Scouts of America. He held positions on community boards in Reston and Alexandria. He took immense pleasure in tutoring students in math and science through Higher Achievement.

In his free time, Hill enjoyed spending time at his beloved family cottage in Deltaville, VA, where he spent every summer from birth. He devoted countless hours to home improvements to ensure the cottage could be enjoyed by his loved ones. He took great delight in sharing river life with his children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
