About | Phillip battled cancer as a teenager. Bravest kid I ever met. I can remember that he turned out for gym class in the 9th or 10th grade and participated in gym class with all the rest of us guys, despite having a leg amputed from the hip down. I can still picture him in my mind as he was chasing a ball, while hopping along on crutches, laughing and smiling. Philip was stricken with cancer as a youth and eventually succumbed to the disease in his teens. You are not forgotten, Philip. |

He was on the gymnastics team, even though he had one leg. After his death, an an award, named after him, was given to the gymnast who tried the hardest. I wonder if this award is still given? It was a plaque, with the awardees' names put on it.
