Michael T. Newell
Class of 1973
Army, 20+ Years
Enlisted in the Army after high school graduation as a medic and lab tech. Basic at FT Leonard Wood and AIT at FT Sam Houston. Then it was on to Mons, Belgium and SHAPE HQ to work at the 196th Station Hospital and was then reassigned to the 6th General Dispensary in Brunssum, The Netherlands at a NATO base called AFCENT. Finished my 3 yr hitched and returned the US to REFRAD from the active Army at FT DIx over the 4th of July weekend 1976. Because it was the 4th of July weekend the Out Processing Center had shut down for the weekend. So a bunch of us took off for New York and the big 200 year Anniversary Celebration in New York. That was the best 4th of July ever! Anyway, I am still in the Army Reseverves and will retire after 40 plus years of services in all branches of the Total Army. I have been a PVT to SSG (E1 to E6) and 2LT to COL (O1 to O6). Have been to 40 plus countries on 7 different continents. My favorite ribbons and awards - my Army Good Conduct Medal (I did not get caught medal) and my Antartic Service Medal (freezen the reason). It has been a great ride and I could not have met a better group of military buddies along the way.

Steven Schultz
Class of 1972
Army, 10 Years
Joined on September 12th, 1972. Received a Medical Discharge on February 16th, 1982. Stationed in Hawaii for 4 and 6 months. During that time I was married for almost two years. She wanted children and I didn't at that time,
so filed for the divorce and I just signed. I re enlisted to spend that much more time there. Then was transferred to a brand new unit in Fort Polk, Louisiana for two years. It was OK but NO Hawaii. But I survived. Then off to Germany. I was supposed to be stationed in Bamberg, because of my profile I couldn't be on tanks anymore. So they transferred me to Ansbach West Germany. Started as a Training NCO, that lasted six months before they transferred me to the mess hall. To pick up the food for the mess hall. ???? That was three days a week. Then they needed a NCO to fill the spot that a person just got sent stationed some place else. So I was transferred to that position. It was NCOIC G3 Graphics. I was in charge once again. This was an awesome position. I was in charge of the VII Corp Conference in Garmich, you know where Hilters retreat was, the Swiss Alps. I received an Army Commendation Medal. Then they sent me to Walter Reed Medical Center for a reclassification board. They figured I'd be better off as a cook, hmm NOWAY! I wasn't going to do that. So they decided to just give me my walking papers. So on the way to back to Ansbach I decided that, that wasn't going to work. So I decided to give up on the military as a career. So on the 16th of February, 1982 I was sent home. I
