School Cafeteria
First of all, I am proud that the school newspaper exists and still goes by "Eleight:" as it did 45 years ago! It was a great way to communicate school activities to the students. As for the cafeteria, it was a popular place to eat at lunch. Students who brought their lunches and those who purchased hot lunches ate there. Also eating in the cafeteria were students buying from the "Brasada", an area which sold pre-made food/snacks and manned by Honor Students. The cafeteria was always quite crowded.
Many of us sat on the steps of the Quad when weather permitted. Litter was not a problem as students took a lot of pride in the campus. In fact there was an on-going competition among the league schools to determine whose was the cleanest
The cafeteria also was used as a study hall, dances and
school functions (plays, musicals, award ceremonies...)
Hope this helps,
Gene Okumura (Class of '67)

School Newspaper
Dear Leigh Alumni,
I am a journalism staff for school newspaper "The Eleight".
I will write an opinion piece on Leigh's remodeled Cafeteria in the February edition. Some reminiscence about the cafeteria would be interesting addition for my article. Please leave your name and the graduation year*(optional).
1.) Was cafeteria popular? how crowded?
2.) What other events was the cafeteria used for other than a place to eat?
3.) Where did most people had lunch and did they litter much?
For example, current students occupy benches around the campus. Sea gulls indulge on the foods left on the ground...
I hope to hear about what Leigh was like...Thank you!
