Class of 1990
Marine Corps, 6 Years
Serving for the full duration of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm under the command of Marine Corps Support Squadron 273, aka. the Sweathogs, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. Famous for supplying disaster relief for hurricane Hugo survivors and many major construction efforts during the Gulf War, to include the largest mobile airstrip ever constructed in Saudi Arabia. Believe me, that was a lot of work and there were several meritorious promotions given due to these efforts. Due to over-enlistment, I took an early out just prior to my lateral move into Crash Fire Rescue, as a frogman specialist. Several Sergeants in my unit took the newly instated early-retirement clause, due to this. The Gulf War started as a potentially global nuclear-biological incident, as it wasn't really a war until the end; however, it fizzled before they could re-enact conscription.
