About | Port Huron-Funeral services for James H. Halifax, 18 of 1415 Tenth Ave. who died Friday night in an auto accident at the Port Huron and Detroit Railroad crossing at Gratiot Boulevard, Marysville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Rev. Robert E. Burke, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, where the remains will be after 6 p.m. today. Mr. Halifax was born Sept. 3, 1957, in Port Huron. He was a 1975 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School. He was an employe of Mercy Hospital. He was a member of St. Stephens Church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Halifax, Port Huron; six sisters. Mrs. Janette E. Weskamp, Merced, Calif., Mrs. Janet I. Sobcznski, Sterling Heights, Mrs. Gloria J. Tilford, Wichita, Kan., and Misses Karen L. Joyce M. and Nancy L. Halifax, all of Port Huron; two brothers, Michael A. And Stephen B. Halifax, both of Port Huron; a grandmother, Mrs. William Halifax, Minden City, a grandfather, Wilber O. Conley, Bad Axe, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 18-year-old driver hits guard rail, dies Marysville--An 18-year-old Port Huron man was killed Friday evening when the car he was driving struck the guardrail at the Port Huron and Detroit Railroad crossing at Gratiot Road.Marysville police said James H,. Halifax, 1415 Tenth St., died in the single car collision while traveling northbound on Gratiot. Officials at Port Huron Hospital said the cause of the death from the accident had not been listed, but a fractured skull had been involved. Police said Halifax was driving alone in a 1973 Dodge, apparently at an excessive speed, when the accident happened. They said the car hit the heavy guardrail that surrounds the railroad crossing flashers. |
