About | In the early morning hours of July 13, 2023, Joseph (Joe) L. Anderson Jr., of Norwood, PA, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side. Joe – a proud Ridley Raider – graduated from Ridley High School in 1971. He also attended Folcroft Vocational School where he served as president of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America in 1971. The hard-working, blue-collar man was a machinist by trade. His skills took him to several different companies throughout his life, including A.I. Dupont, The Franklin Mint, and Morris Elkis and Sons. However, the job he loved most, and possibly the one he was most proud of, was co-owning Anderson Lures with his wife. For many years, the pair provided tackle to fishermen spanning Canada to Florida. For most of his life, Joe spent his time on the water – specifically, eight months of every year. Fishing and crabbing with the ones he loved was his favorite way to pass the time. He traveled up and down the East Coast competing in bass fishing tournaments where he won various first-place trophies in each tournament he competed in. The seasoned fisherman was a member of First Light Bass Club, Boothwyn Bass Hawks, and the founder of The Delco Bass Club. Joe’s summers were spent in Maryland on the Elk River at Buttonwood Beach with his family. He often navigated the waters of the Chesapeake Bay with his wife, children, and grandchildren in tow. In 2011, Joe built and carved a 22-foot wooden center console skiff that took its maiden voyage out on the Elk River. When he wasn’t on the water, Joe was rooting for the Phillies during baseball season and the Eagles and 49ers on the football field. In more recent years, Joe enjoyed spending quality time with his wife at the casino. As those who loved Joe remember him fondly, we will be reminded that, “there are many good fishermen and some great ones. But there is only one you.” ~~~ Joe is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Anderson (nee Korbel) of 51 years, his devoted children Joseph L. Anderson III (Dana) and Janice Anderson (Bryan), and his grandchildren who he loved dearly: Jacqueline (Tyler), Ireland, and Mitchell. |
