Ended up stationed in Bamberg, W.Germany- 1st of 52nd Infantry (Mechanized)remaining there until Hon. discharge. It was the height of the "Cold War' In Europe at that time.

After training at Ft. Bliss, TX and Ft. Sill, OK, I served 13 months in Germany with the 1st TAB, 26th Artillery. After 6 more weeks of training back at Ft. Sill, I served 12 months in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division Artillery near the Cambodian border and Ho Chi Minh Trail.

I was one of 90 local men who were members of the 161st Ordnance Base Depot Co. of the California National Guard at Camp San Luis Obispo we were called up by the feds on August 21 1950 served three months at CSLo and a year at Camp Cooke ( now Vandenberg Air Base) Shipped to Korea with 21 guys from SLO and served together for six months with the 502nd Ordnance Platoon at the main ordnance depot in Pusan the 226th Logistical Command OBD No. 1.

In 1973 the Navy sent me to Syracuse University to be trained as a Photojournalist. In 1976 I was honored as the Navy's Photojournalist of the Year. Accepted a commission in 1979 as a Photographic Officer. Retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1991. During my Navy career in lived in Kodiak AK, Republic of the Philippines, San Diego CA, Indianapolis IN, Syracuse NY,
Mountian View CA and Whidbey Island WA.
