About James P. LeComte 19, was shot and killed on Route 24 in Fall River on October 10, 1979, son of Leo A. & Georgette (Boulay) LeComte.
A 1978 graduate of Somerset High School, Mr. LeComte was on the School's varsity football team for three years and was active in the school's retreat program and parish youth group.
He recently attended Bristol Community College and was active in Somerset Youth and Catholic Youth Organization Hockey.
Besides his parents and brother, he leaves two sisters, Dr. Michele M. LeComte and Miss Jennifer A. LeComte, both of Somerset, and his paternal grandmother of this city.
James LeComte, 19, of 40 Kaufman Road. Police said he was shot in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Paul R. deVillers medical examiners.
Michael McGee, 21, of 71 Gardner Ave., was listed in stable condition in St. Anne's Hospital, following surgery to remove a bullet from his abdomen.
Kenneth Carreira, 23, of 19 Danforth St. was arrested at his home, police said.
David Gonsalves, 20, of 110 Ferncroft Road Somerset, was taken into custody at 238 Weetamoe St. according to the spokesman.
In a surprise move late Wednesday two defendants plead guilty to manslaughter.
Kenneth Carreira, 23, of 19 Danforth St., was sentenced to 8 to 15 years at Walpole State Prison on the manslaughter charge in connection with LeComte's death and was given a concurrent 8 to 15 years sentence on charges of assault with intent to murder Micharl McGee and LeComte's brother, David.
Carreira also received an additional 3 to 5 year prison sentence on gun related charges to be served con-currently with the other sentences.
Co-defendant, David Gonsalves, 20, of 110 Fercroft Road, Somerset, was given a 5 to 7 year Walpole sentence on the manslaughter charge in connection with LeComte's death. He is to serve one year of that term, the balance of the sentence is to be suspended. He was ordered placed on five years probation, upon his release from Walpole. On the assault with intent to murder LeComte's brother, David and McGee, he was given a 20 year term at Massachusetts Correctional Institution, Concord to be served on and after the Walpole term.
Gonsalves also recieved a 5 year term at MCI Concord, to be served concurrent with the other sentences, on gun related charges.
