About	Lien, Darrell J. "Bud" DEFOREST - Darrell J. "Bud" Lien, age 69, died unexpectedly, of a heart attack on Wednesday,, Jan. 8, 2003, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on Oct. 17, 1933, to Hormey and Ethel (Helgerson) Lien. Bud was a lifelong resident of Dane County. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1951 and from Milton College. Bud worked for the town of Blooming Grove as a police officer and for the Dane County Sheriff's Department for 30 years. He was a lifetime member of Bristol Sportsman Club, Madison Elks No. 410, Sun Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 143, Madison Scottish Rite Bodies, Zor Shrine, Ducks Unlimited and the Dane County Sheriff's Association. Bud was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Nelson) Lien; his children, Ken (Faye) Lien, Cindy (Frank) Gonzales, Dan (Becky) Lien and Cheryl (Todd) Sherstad; stepsons, Dean (Debbie) Carpenter and Dennis (Meegan) Carpenter; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Tjugum, Barbara (Michael) Dauk, Gloria (Tom) Rortvedt and Bonnie (Bob) Lynch; and many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Scott. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, with the Rev.
