Air Force, 20+ Years
I retired after nearly 27 years. Long ago I signed up for two reasons. First (no kidding) was for patriotic reasons. The man who raised me until I was 11 somehow instilled in me a need to serve my country. I always knew I would. Second, for the G.I. Bill...I know, I wasn't a stiller high school student, but that didn't mean I was dumb... I suppose I just had other priorities back then. I used my G.I. Bill for education purposes after I retired. I really had no idea I would stay the military for so many years. It is a good and honorable way of life ... I enjoyed most of it. I served where Uncle Sam told me to, and did so the best I could. I traveled the world (a few times), gained an uncommon (to most Americans) world view, and witnessed so many cool and not so cool things.
I am a better person for it.

Our Vashon Island High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Vashon Island High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Vashon are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
