I was in the first grade in 1952 and I believe my teacher's name was Miss Owens(?). My older sister Rosemond at the time was in the third grade and brother Dave in the fourth. I do remember Principal McCourt as a fine lady. Had a few classmates from my neighborhood off New Road but most were from nearby and newly built Veterans Village. Was probably the slowest-moving kid in the school as crossing guard Officer Fiske wouldn't leave his post at Newport and Ferris until I came along.
