Four years active duty, 21 years in the Texas National Guard. Missed Viet Nam by a week, two trips to the sand box with the Guard. Foolishly thought the National Guard would be a flying club.

Navy, 20+ Years

Spent 24 years 2 Mos and 22 days in the Navy invoilved in aircraft maintenance. Was assigned to VT-23 "The Professionals" at Kingsville, Texas, VA-128 "Golden Intruders" NAS Whidbey Island, VAQ-137 "The Rooks" Whidbey Island, Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department Lemoore, California, VA-145 "Swordsmen" Whhidbey Island, VAQ-129 "The Vikings" Whidbey Island, VAQ-136 "The Gauntlets" NAF Atsugi, Japan, VAQ-129 "The Vikings" Whidbey Island. Made 4 deployments onboard the USS Ranger with VAQ-137 and with VA-145 to the Western Pacific/Indian Ocean. Made 2 deployments onboard the USS Independence with VAQ-136 to the Western Pacific/Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf. Have also been onboard the USS John F Kennedy and USS Nimitz. Retired June 1998.

Our Fairview High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Fairview High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Fairview are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
