George R Fourson
George R Fourson
Class of 1956
Army, 20+ Years

As a way of remembrance Elizabeth Hollenbeck and Hank and Florence Pryor, My Family owned the Villa Marine and Marshalls motel. I retired from the army in 84 and then took a position in ft lauderdale as the county purchasing manager buying about a billion dollars of about whatever you can think of.
then i retired again and have since started investing in high end real estate developments such as hotels, resorts, luxury home development and office buildings around the country. I am not involved with day to day operations just periodic meetings but that means I fly around the country a lot.
When i retired from the army at the rank of colonel was considered 100% disabled because of PTSD and my back which inhibits walking and standing. During my career i was a combat assault helicopter pilot in vietnam shot at and combat wounded. One day I received a call from a 6 man patrol in Cambodia where I was not to fly but i found them on the map, went in under intense fire and lifted them to safety. In Vietnam that would have resulted in the Medal of Honor. I then became a commander at all five levels of aircraft maintenance. Ultimately i wrote an exhaustive study which changed maintenance from 5 levels to three I am an aeronautical engineer, have an MBA and a PHD which propelled me into a career change of research and development of aircraft. I was assigned to the Pentagon for my last ten years where i was responsible to the Secretary of the Army and prepared status reports to congress and gave congressional testimony before congressional committees.
I am in the planning stages of of starting a self funded foundation to support Christian reformed evangelical churches and ministries. The money God has given me is not mine its His and I will use it for His glory and good purposes long after i have passed and buried in Arlington National Cemetery..
I had a very unique and highly distinguished career, leaving legacies of accomplishments behind me which last to this day. this is a very short summary of 25 years of my career which i have started writing a book about and the title of it is "God was there; He carried me..." The book is about his grace and mercy to me.I am a living personification of Psalm 23.
I am been planning to visit all 48 states this summer by RV including frankfort and then return to Europe in the fall..In fact i have literally travelled the world and plan to do it again. I love to travel and take pictures of scenery and landmarks....my hobby i guess.
I would really enjoy reading a summary of everyones life your lives since graduation.
Thanks take care have a great day and God be with you....
