During basic training, became a member of President Kennedy's honor guard (1961). Stationed at St Petersburg FL Air Station 62-64, search and rescue activities, and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Stationed at Key West 64-65 in Cuban refugee program. On USCGC Diligence, participated in Gemini III recovery.
