Army, 3 Years
Joined the Army three days after High School and was in Vietnam six months later. Spent the year in the Central Highlands moving ammo (resupply) and E.O.D. teams around the northern parts of Vietnam. Spent last eighteen months of my enlistment at Ft Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Duty there with the 5th Infantry Division included training for riot control. We, 5th Infantry, were tasked with maintaining order from the Mississippi River to the West Coast. Went from the 'frying pan' (Vietnam) to the 'fire' (riot control duty).....not a fun time to be in the Army.
