Arthur never went to High school due to financial conditions, but received an honorary diploma upon returning from service where he had become a pilot of the big bombers and flew 26 missions. After college at Nebraska, Iowa State and U of Califfornis, he become the head of the Chemistry Department at Chadron State College.
