I served in the United States Army from 10 December 1984 to 31 December 2018. I was Chief Warrant Officer Five (CW5) as a Quartermaster Officer. During my 34 years of service, I have held numerous positions at various locations ranging from state-side to overseas. I have deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Uzbekistan combat theaters of operation.

After graduating from Phillips, I earned a BS degree in Engineering Science from North Central College, Naperville, Illinois. I received a Masters in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. I am also a graduate of the Armed Forces National Security Management School and the Minnesota Management Institute (University of Minnesota).

I have worked for several leading companies such as Boeing in Aerospace industry as a Mechanical Engineer; the U. S. Air Force as a Research and Development Project Officer and Pilot; Procter & Gamble as an Industrial Engineer; Pioneer Hi-Bred as a Production Manager; and as a Human Resources Manager in the paper, food and agricultural seed industries. I am a Statistical Process Control Consultant. Currently I am an Adjunct Instructor in Business Administration for Simpson College and Des Moines Area Community College. I currently hold a license as a FAA Certified Flight Instructor.

I am Vice-President of the Central Iowa Military Retiree Council, Past Chairperson of the Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Diversity Committee, member of the Air Force Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), and the Military Officers Association of America.

I have traveled in almost every state in the union. I have lived in ten different states for extended periods, both rural and urban areas. I have traveled in Europe, Asia, and South America.

I have been married to the former Thomasine Edwards (class of 1959), Illinois for 53 years. She received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York and her graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin. I am the father of Stephan Glenn Jr. (spouse, Lisa) and Kenneth Thomas (spouse, Diane). Tomi and I have four grandchildren Marcus, Alexander, Stephan III, and Emily.

I served in the United States Marine Corps from January 16, 1984 to July 31, 2004. I was an Engineer Equipment Operator, Engineer Equipment Chief, Maintenance Management Supervisor, Ground Safety Manager, Driver Improvement Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander and Company Gunnery Sergeant. I served on the east coast, west coast and in Okinawa Japan. I also served in Kuwait and Iraq in 2003. I'm a Life Memeber of VFW Post #888 and a member of The American Legion Post# 595
