Tom served in Vietnam 1965 - 1966 and was a pilot in Huey helicopters. Second tour (1968) he was a Chinook helicopter pilot. He was lost only17 days into his second tour. He was 22 yrs of age when he was lost and left behind a wife (Margaret D, Cude known as Peggy) who graduated RTHS in 1964 and a son, Patrick Thomas Wade Duer born in Feb 1968. After induction at Lackland AFB, Tx , spent 2 yrs in AZ @Luke AFB; served 4 yrs in AK (with my family); 3 yrs at SIU (Southern Ill Univ) in the ROTC Dept; 1 yr in AK at Sparrevohn AFS (remote) and the remaining time at Luke AFB, AZ where I retired and live in the area.

Our Rantoul Township High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Rantoul Township High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Rantoul are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
