I served in the Air Force from 11/28/60 to 11/27/64. After basic training, I was stationed at Cannon AFB, NM the rest of my "Hitch." I was a Special Weapons Mechanic installed Pylons, Amoo, Bombs, Rockets and Missiles. During the time at Cannon I went TDY (Temporary Duty Yonder) to Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Flordia during the Cuban Crisis.

I joined the Navy in 1968, went to boot camp and then to Nuclear Power School and ultimately the Submarine Navy. I was stationed on three nuclear submarines; SSBN-611, SSBN-609, and SSBN-658. During my 2 tours we traveled to most areas of the country following my schooling and duty submarines. I spent most of my time in the Atlantic, North Atlantic, and Mediterranean Oceans.

I was in the Air Force August 1961 through July 1965. After basic training in Texas and Mississippi I attended morse intercept operator training in Biloxi. After that I spent about 18 months in San Vito De Normani Italy and then 18 months in Crete Greece Iraklion Air Force base. This was during the Vietnam conflict so we spent 24 hours a day shift work copying anything from Vietnam plus anything from communist bloc countries.
