Rapidly approaching my retirement date after nearly 26 years of active duty and looking forward to starting a new career.

In 1987, decided I needed a change and joined the TN Air National Guard. I enjoyed what I was doing and traveled the world for 20 years. The military changed a lot during that time. Traveling from IL to TN for 5+ years took its toll along with being activated during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is why I retired as soon as I reaced my 20 years. I will forever be thankful for the military because it found me my best friend, my husband Michael.

In 1997 I was hired at McGhee Tyson full time and I'm still currently employed there. I've seen a lot of changes to "Todays Military" over the years and I'm thankful for the good ole days and the memories I have. There's been a lot of good times, hard times, and bad times as well, but thankfully I've made it through them all. Upon graduation he entered into the Army where his service included work as an Army Engineer, Service as an Army Diver in Panama during Operation Just Cause, and in Iraq and Kuwait during operation Desert Storm. He volunteered for Special Forces training in 1992 and served with the 5th Special Forces Group, Ft. Campbell, KY, where he participated in numerous overseas deployments including combat operations in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq. His commendations and awards include the Bronze Star Metal with Valor, the Army Commendation Metal and many other Ribbons and Professional Service Achievement Awards.
SFC William Bennett, US Army, Special Forces was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom Friday, September 12, 2003, near the town of Ar-Ramadi, Iraq.
