Enlisted in the U.S. Army, June 1970, served three tours of duty in Vietnam, in 1st Calvary and later in 5th Special Forces. Commendations include Purple Heart(s), Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and several other awards. Later served in Desert Storm in U.S. Army Reserves, as a helicopter pilot. Earned rank of Colonel in U.S. Army Reserves. Became an education professor after earning his Ph.D. at The University of Southern Mississippi. Passed away on 12/22/2013, as a result of complications from Agent Orange exposure. Was married to Kerri Fontenot.

I joined the United States Army Nov 29, 1989. I completed Basis Training and AIT from Nov 89 until June of 90 at Ft Dix, New Jersey. My first duty station was Frankfurt, Germany then Ft Ord California, Ft Lewis Washington, Camp Humphrey's Korea, Ft Stewart Georgia, Suwon Korea, Ft Hood Texas, Osan Korea, Ft Carson Colorado and Ft Shafter Hawaii. I've been deployed twice to Camp Buehring Kuwait and Camp Arifjan Kuwait. I am retiring Nov 30th 2017 from Hawaii with 28 years and 2 days of active service and will join my husband and kids at our retirement home in Cypress, Texas.
