Class of 1961
Navy, 3 Years

I flew (as a crewman) in the S2-E, an aircraft carrier based two-engine aircraft. Our mission was to hunt, track and destroy submarines, 24/7 and in all kinds of weather. I had 50 carrier take-offs and landings, and half of those were during
night time.

Class of 1977
Navy, 20+ Years

TED NELSON, Chief Gunners Mate (Ret). I've been around the would a few times. Partied in France, Greece, Australia, Hong Kong, Rio, and other places too numerous to mention. I've had command of 100+ men in a combat zone, boarded ships at night and done mine hunts by day in the Persian Gulf. I've been thrown out of the Navy Yard in D.C. twice, for arguing with the brass, I regret nothing. Good times. After the Navy, I spent 11 years teaching at Florida State College at Jacksonville, mostly weapons and tactics to Military and Law enforcement, but, some OSHA and EPA hazmat technician just for fun. My best friends at Kadoka were David Cadman and Larry Frink, both gone, distant memories, but, both good men. REMEMBER THEM

Our Kadoka High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Kadoka High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Kadoka are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
