Robert "Rocky" Cole KIA: VIETNAM
Class of 1967
Army, 1 Years
Rocky was drafted into the Army in April of 1968. He was an "11B" combat Infantryman, with the 11th Light I fantry "Jungle Warriors" 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry, Americal Division, Killed in combat in an North Vietnamese ambush at Duc Pho, Quang Ngai Province on March 29, 1969, Rocky was buried one year later to the day from being drafted. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart Medal and the Silver Star Medal. Survived by Brother Peter Cole (Encina "64), sister Carolyn Cole (Rio 68), Frank Cole (Rio '71) and sister Kathy Cole (Rio '72)

Rolland "Ron" enlisted in the USMC in 1968 and was a career "leatherneck." t Midway in his service he "mustanged over" (became an Commissioned Officer) and retired as a Major. Rolland served in Okinawa, Japan and Korea. He retired in 1988.

Terry (AKA Jocko) was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1969. He got married and at his going away party at Rick Elliot's house on July 20th we all watched (Apollo 11) Neil Armstrong be the first man to walk on the moon. Terry shipped out to Vietnam the next day. He was killed (along with two other Marines) in a surprise attack on their 3-team night position by the Viet Cong the day after Christmas (12/26/69) near Da Nang, Quang Nam Province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalian, 26th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. Terry was 20 years old.
